There were at least three different airlines with this name. This airline was founded as Commercial Airlines and American International Airways was founded in September 1981 and started operations in December, 1981 with charters to Atlantic City and scheduled service to Florida. Profits were not as expected and the airline declared bankruptcy on July 19, 1984 and ceased opeerations in September.They flew DC-9s and the MD-80.
