The airline started in 1977 as Charterair Commuter Airline and in 1978 was renamed Charter Air Center and by the end of 1978 became Charter Airlines and merged with Mackey International Airline in 1979. They flew one Convair 580 on intrastate Florida routes based out of Gainesvile.
